Best Advice

The best advice that I have ever received would have to be "Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about." I don't remember who gave me this advice or where I heard it but I love it. I apply this to a lot of things that I do, including sports, work, family and friends. I think that this is true because if your going to still be thinking about it all the time anyways, then you might as well not give up on it. Some others that I really like are "If you don't stand for something then you'll fall for anything." "When nothing goes right, go left." "Whatever you do, do it well."

Movie Thoughts

I thought the movie "A River Runs Through it" was alot better than the book. I think that the film brought a little more life to the story that I felt the book lacked. They also did a good job bringing in some new conflicts. I thought that for the most part they did a good job picking the actors, but I didn't like the actor they chose to act as Norman Maclean. I felt that he was awkward in some situations, and he didn't seem to have an all around grasp on how the real Norman Maclean was, at least in my perspective. But overall I enjoyed the film more than i enjoyed the book, and I am glad that our class got the opportunity to watch this film.

You Gotta Risk It

"You gotta risk it to get the biscuit." I am sure there are hundreds of times when I have used this philosophy, but the only time I can think of right now is when I was little and I had a pool in my backyard. The rule was I couldn't swim unless my parents were outside with me. Anyway this one morning there was a really cool bug swimming around in the water and I wanted to catch it. So I went and got my little mason jar, and layed on the side of the pool trying to catch this bug, but I couldn't reach it. So i made the decision to get down on the later and stretch out for this bug. I was so close that I thought if I just reached a hair ore I would be able to reach it. So I went for it and as soon as I got to full stretch and just about to scoop up the bug, PING! the later broke off the hinges and here goes fully clothed eight year old Branden into the pool. Needless to say I hoped out of the water rather quickly, but not before letting out a slight scream. Right when
I got out of the water and calmed down a little bit I looked up and there was my dad...

Movie vs. Book

well, i haven't ever read an entire book and then seen the film. But my guess would be that it may be possible for a director to outshine an author, It it wouldn't come easy. I think that it is so hard because in a book you can be very descriptive and draw attention to detail, and little things, but at the same time, everyone has their own imagination. I do think that a director can outshine an author, but like I said, it wouldn't come without some work.
